The first time we successfully cell painted neurons was in 2017! We didn’t start making our neuromaps until a few years later. These early proofs of concept allowed us to believe in the true potential of our platform.

We had a tradition to play rock, paper, scissors at company-wide gatherings.
Whoever beats you, you become their loudest cheerleader. By the end, half the company is rooting for one contender, and the other half for the other. This makes for some very raucous rock, paper, scissors games!
It was a momentous time. It felt right that we named ourselves… with much debate, we became “Recursionauts.” There were camps in favor of Recursionista, Recursioneer, even Recursionist and Recursion nut!

The second annual, but first truly ‘Recursive’ HTS photo was taken in our lab at Komas. These hilarious Recursionauts found the perfect way to celebrate our growth, by embedding photos of themselves within photos of themselves.
